Megan Downey Studio transformed the interior of a dark, cramped colonial home by converting an existing garage into living space and removing the surrounding walls, creating a larger kitchen, improved flow, and increased natural light. Relocating the kitchen to this newly opened, central area, the studio added a custom-built window bay framing views of the forest beyond. Utilizing natural materials such as sheep’s wool insulation and bio-based floor finishes, and complemented by a palette of white oak, soft whites, and dark porcelain stone, the space became a safe, warm, and inviting environment for a family of five to cook, work, and play.
